Postcards from Brexit Land { 17 images } Created 3 Oct 2016

The question of what it meant to be British, has elicited conflicting views for decades. This debate however has been pushed to the forefront, again by the vote to leave the European Union. For some the vote was a chance for the country to regain its self-confidence as a truly independent nation state for others it was a backward step into the unknown, possibly towards a more intolerant society.

This series, images that were taken post 23 June reimagines John Hinde’s Postcards for Britain series from the 60s and 70s for a Post Brexit generation and gives a contemporary view of what the landscape of Britain now looks like. The images are symbolic in nature depicting a mythical Brexit Land, a country in stasis as it waits to exit the European Union with an uncertain future.
